Studio Lottie - A Canvas Cut Christmas

Every year I do a Christmas craft with one or more of my sisters.  We always search online, post to our shared Pinterest board "Studio Club."  This year we chose to make canvas wall hangings.

Items needed for project.
  • Cutting Board
  • Exacto Knife
  • 12x12 Canvas
  • Tombow Mono Liquid Glue

Print out the 9x9 inch image.

Use Tombow Mono Liquid Glue

Place dots of glue to the back of your paper image.  Make sure to only glue where black portion of paper is so you don’t cut away what is holding  the image down. You only need 4 or 5 dots to hold paper.  Place image on backside of canvas.

The white spaces are the cut outs. Cut inside spaces first.  Use a cutting knife with new(er) blade to achieve best cut through paper and canvas.  Save the cut out pieces for later use.

It's a preference if you want to add colorful paper to the cutout.

To add colorful paper use the pieces of canvas from the cutouts.  Lay the canvas piece (top side up) on top of the paper.  Cut a slightly larger area around the canvas piece to allow for gluing.  Dab glue onto canvas and lay paper face side down.  Note: We used two different glues.  The Tombow Mono Liquid Glue worked best; the other glue curled the canvas edges around the paper.

I had a hard time finding ready to use images for this project.  I've put together a few and am sharing for your use.  These can be printed out as 9x9 images.

Happy Christmas Crafting!
